As a professional in the Portland, Oregon, real estate market, I am passionate about providing everyone I work with the information, advice, and assistance they seek from a knowledgeable Realtor. My journey into the real estate world was a natural progression, given that I spent eight years of my professional life as a teacher. I believe in helping others learn and grow in this field. I’ve been fortunate to have a lifetime of exposure to real estate through my mother’s role as a principal broker and my father’s career as a contractor. They imparted invaluable knowledge about the intricacies of real estate, including buying, selling, and property construction.
Throughout the years, I’ve bought and sold real estate, rented properties, and purchased and leased commercial property. Hi and thanks for stopping by my page. My name is Matt, and I’m a real estate broker serving the Portland metro area, who believes that buying or selling a home should feel personal, not transactional. For most, buying a home is the largest financial purchase of one’s life, and you need a Realtor who is not just interested in the business side of things but the human side of things too. I always strive to bring a calm, thoughtful approach to each interaction, along with a genuine interest in helping people figure out what makes sense for their lives, not just what looks good on paper. Whether you’re buying a house for the first time, the 10th time, preparing to sell, or simply exploring what might be possible, I aim to be a knowledgeable and steady guide through the process.
Originally, and very proudly, from outside Chicago, my mom and dad got jobs at Intel in 2000 and moved our family out here. I attended Linfield University (which still feels strange to say; it was Linfield College while I was there) and got a B.A. in my first passion: the theatre. Starting in 2012, I have worked as an actor, director and playwright in the area ever since. Nonetheless, I was always fascinated by the real estate market; there really is no better reflection of the American dream and the current state of society than the housing market. So in 2020, a unique time to add on a new career, I got my real estate license and have loved every day since. And while I may have lived most of my life now in Oregon, I’ve never lost the lessons a Midwest upbringing taught me: work hard, be nice but honest, always do what you say you’re going to do, and do right by your community.
Clients appreciate my approachable style, attention to detail, and ability to make complicated things feel manageable. I know that real estate can be exciting, emotional, and sometimes overwhelming, so I strive to create an experience that feels grounded, clear, and supportive. I was born and raised in New York, NY, and Atlanta, GA, and I graduated from New York University with a Bachelor of Music in Classical Voice. I have a background in dance and acting, and I also have a passion for writing music. Before transitioning into my role as a real estate agent in the Portland Metro area in 2019, I spent a decade working in marketing, communications, and advertising.
In my real estate career, I find immense fulfillment in assisting people and solving the various challenges that may arise. My skill set includes effective communication, honesty, and a determination to solve complex issues that often surface during real estate transactions.
